Cath Blythe MA, RCC

A Registered Clinical Counsellor with her Masters of Counselling Psychology, Cath assists couples and individuals in identifying barriers to and establishing healthy relationships. She counsels individuals and couples through transitions, postpartum complications, relationship challenges, anxiety and depression using evidence based modalities.

With several years in community nursing, prenatal, postpartum and parenting education and midwifery in Australia, Cath has a strong background in working with youth and families, and has worked extensively in sexual health education.

Cath brings lived experience of parenting three young adults to her work. With authenticity she provides a safe and inclusive space. With evidence-based approaches, Cath is trained in Gottman Therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) along with a mindful and solution focused approach with a trauma informed lens. She is thrilled to join the Bach Counselling Group in a clinical counselling role.

Zainab Giwa MA, CCC

Zainab Giwa is a Canadian Certified Canadian Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association with over seven years of experience supporting her clients to gain insight, change behaviours and improve their relationships. Counselling individuals, youth, couples, and families, Zainab helps clients struggling with anxiety, depression and relationship struggles to utilize solution-focused, emotionally focused and cognitive behavioural therapy. With an inclusive and trauma-informed perspective, Zainab incorporates emotionally focused and Gottman therapy in her work with couples identifying barriers and working toward greater intimacy and joy in their relationships. Zainab is highly committed to the success of her clients in reaching their personal and wellness goals.

Kate Nova

Kate Nova brings many years of experience working with individuals and teams as a senior leader, coach, and business consultant. Kate is currently completing her second Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology and holds a Master of Business Administration. This combination of formal education and hands-on experience equips Kate with the tools to effectively guide clients toward positive change and emotional well-being.

Kate employs a variety of therapeutic modalities, including internal family systems, narrative therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), and solutions-focused therapy. Working with individuals, Kate assists clients in identifying and addressing underlying maladaptive patterns in their behaviors and thoughts, both internal and external. Whether facing personal or relationship challenges, she helps clients build effective solutions by forming new skills and strategies that result in greater life satisfaction.

Known for her analytical and client-centric approach, Kate provides a straightforward, compassionate, and deeply engaged perspective. She creates a trusting and safe environment where clients feel heard and supported, fostering personal and interpersonal growth. Kate is pleased to be completing her graduate internship with BCG.

Lisa Mullaly

Lisa is experienced in supporting a variety of individuals, families, and couples with compassion, understanding, and acceptance. With an extensive background in supporting families with complex needs, trauma, neurodiversity, and interpersonal relationships, Lisa ensures clients have a safe space to explore and find solutions to their presenting issues. She is practiced in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) and is a Certified Music Therapist with over ten years of clinical experience. Lisa is neurodiversity-affirming, PDA-friendly, and trauma-informed, focusing on client’s strengths and resilience as a catalyst for change.

As a mom and step-mom herself, Lisa cares deeply about supporting caregivers in their role, while also recognizing the importance of supporting youth, young adults, and other individuals as they navigate their own roles in their relationships, families, and in their communities.

With her Masters in Neurological Music Therapy and currently in her Masters in Counselling Psychology degree, Lisa is pleased to be completing her internship with Bach Counselling Group.

Taiba Patel MA, CCC

Taiba uses a variety of evidence-based therapies including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), emotionally focused therapy, mindfulness and solution-focused therapy. Additionally, Taiba is a certified with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association with her Masters of Counselling Psychology. She has completed certifications in mindfulness and related practices. Taiba works with individuals and families dealing with anxiety, depression, disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), development challenges, ADHD, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and dementia. Working with executive functioning challenges common to ADHD, Taiba assists clients in reaching their goals and overcoming barriers to their wellness. She integrates mindfulness and CBT and other therapies in the treatment plans, thus assisting clients in moving from depression, anxiety, stress management, to improved self-regard, relationship and communication.

Sophie Koolen

Sophie is experienced supporting youth, families and adults with care, optimism and compassion. Sophie works with individuals and families addressing a variety of issues including eating disorders, disordered eating, body image at all ages. Sophie understands the importance of using an holistic approach and building rapport while supporting our mental health. Through the lens of attachment, trauma informed, mindfulness and other evidence-based practices, Sophie brings an important level of awareness to her work with youth, parents and individuals.

Sophie has 10 years of professional experience working alongside individuals, youth and families affected by eating disorders and disordered eating as a Registered Dietitian graduated from McGill University. Sophie has been working along side experienced multidisciplinary teams of doctors and therapists using Emotion Focused Family Therapist and Family based Therapy. Through extensive training on how neurodiversity affects our own relationship with food and body, Sophie has an extensive understanding on how this can impact someone’s life.

As a mom of two young children herself, Sophie cares deeply about supporting caregivers in their role. Using Neufeld Institute’s work on Alpha parenting, attachment experience on making sense of pre-schoolers. Sophie is currently completing her Masters in Counselling Psychology and her internship with the Bach Counselling Group.

Lynsey Dobbie

Lynsey is a seasoned Chartered Occupational Psychologist with a rich professional background in the United Kingdom. In her work with individuals, teams, and organizations, Lynsey excels in enhancing communication dynamics and facilitating conflict resolution.

Lynsey counsels individuals and families through anxiety, depression and life transitions, facilitating healthier intra and interpersonal communication. She has worked with the Pacific Postpartum Support Society as a counsellor and facilitator of support groups for new parents.

Lynsey brings her training a variety of evidence based modalities including family systems and cognitive behavioural therapy to empower clients in effecting meaningful changes for themselves and their families. Lynsey’s approach brings empathy and compassion, fostering an environment of trust and safety.

Lynsey is currently completing her Masters in Counselling Psychology and her internship with the Bach Counselling Group.

Anna Khokhlova

Anna Khokhlova is completing her Masters of Counselling graduate internship with Bach Counselling. Working primarily with youth and young adults, Anna addresses barriers to better functioning including anxiety, depression and grief

Using a variety of therapies including narrative, cognitive-behavioural, and acceptance and commitment therapies, Anna helps clients identify and work through life challenges to gain increased confidence, a stronger and more secure sense of self. Some stressful life events can result in barriers to being present and engaged in life transitions successfully. With counselling, these challenges can be transformative and result in greater confidence and growth. Anna assists clients in navigating life transitions to independence and thriving.

Additionally, Anna counsels clients through the process of immigration establishing a new set of skills, cultural norms, relationships and community. Through a trauma and attachment informed lens, Anna tailors the therapeutic process to suit the client’s unique needs and reach the individual client goals for wellness.

Abby Hsiao RD
Registered Dietician

A registered dietician and a graduate from the University of British Columbia, Abby specializes in working with individuals and families dealing with disordered eating thoughts and behaviours. She works with the Vancouver Coastal Health Eating Disorder Program with children, youth and adults.

Abby provides nutritional assessments including body image and mood and facilitates her clients to build healthier relationships with food, body and themselves.
